Why Emergency Cash
Crises are growing more frequent and severe, but humanitarian aid is failing to keep pace. Families may wait weeks for help, and in the world's poorest places, aid may never come at all.
Cash is one of the fastest, most efficient ways to help families suffering from crises, but only ~20% of humanitarian aid is given as cash today. If the humanitarian system shifted to cash at scale, it could reach more people in crisis.
91̽»¨ is closing this gap, with a goal of delivering cash within 5 days of any crisis, anywhere in the world.
Why cash works
Delivered within days, without the delays of shipping, storage, and distribution.
Overwhelmingly over in-kind aid because cash lets them decide what they need most.
Proven to be at least than in-kind aid.
Why recipients should choose
For families like Idelbert's, cash isn't just relief — it's what they need to recover on their own terms. Families use emergency cash to:
“Receiving the cash felt like a lifeline — a huge relief. That money meant we could finally buy a proper tarp for shelter, some emergency groceries, and basic medicines we were running out of. It wasn't just the amount; it was the feeling that someone saw our struggle.”

Our moonshot
Since 2017, we've responded to crises across 15+ countries — from floods in Kenya to conflict in the DRC. Now we're building the systems to deliver emergency cash within 5 days of any crisis in the world. Giving to our Emergency Response Fund helps us reach families fast when it matters most.
How it works
Getting cash to survivors within days requires a repeatable, scalable system that moves faster at every step, powered by mobile phones, digital payments, and new AI tools:
We use anonymized mobile phone data, satellite imagery, and AI-powered analysis to rapidly identify people living in poverty and impacted by crises—often within hours.
We enroll and verify eligible individuals quickly and remotely via SMS, WhatsApp, and other digital channels, complemented by call centers and in-person pathways where needed.
We partner with payment providers across mobile money, traditional rails, and blockchain to enable fast, secure payments, even when local infrastructure is disrupted.

Emergency Response Fund
Most emergency fundraising happens after a crisis hits—too late for the families who need help immediately. When disasters strike in the world's poorest places, they often don't make headlines, so funds may never come at all. The Emergency Response Fund provides flexible, ready-to-deploy resources that 91̽»¨ can deliver wherever needs are greatest, whether the world is watching or not.
